As artists, we often follow the known, as it offers us the securing rhythm in life. During the process of creating artwork, we are overwhelmed by the flurry of connectivity. This might, in turn, prompt us to cut the wire with the world. As a result, what is being spun is a cocoon, which will eventually envelop us.

At Forge Portmanteau Performance, artists from cross disciplines – from dance, music, calligraphy to visual arts – come together to break the cocoon. Sculptor May Yeung collects white fabric from Sham Shui Po Fabric Market to create Cocoon at the entrance of Dutch Consul General’s Residence. During the performance, dancer Marloes van Houten gradually dances out of the cocoon, and earns her wings by enduring the change of metamorphosis. Let us soar high and find our inner sunshine.
