Graduated from the University of Chicago in Visual Arts and Political Science, May Yeung is an artist, which specialises in sculpture-making and public arts. She was the one and only Asian till now to have had public exhibitions at Chicago Union Station, Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, and Harper Memorial Library, showcasing her public art works – Citation, What If… and # . (2010 – 2012).
Upon her return to Hong Kong, May was invited to showcase Cocoon at the Residence of the Dutch Consul General in Hong Kong and Macau. In 2016, She partnered with HK Films Awards for Best Art Direction Winner Robert Loh on Ikigai in Papay Gyro Nights Art Festival at Videotage in HK and 33 Space in Shenzhen (2016); and May was selected to be the only local sculptor to exhibit at French May Arts Festival (2017 & 2018).
May established Art of MY Family (2018) to organize community art events for social impacts. Her NGO has heavily organised and participated in educational programmes to help raise the public awareness towards environmental protection.
May Yeung has won numerous awards and accolades in Hong Kong and abroad. She was presented with Youth Dream Makers Award (2021) and Hong Kong Professional Elite Ladies Selection Award (2020). May won Top 10 Outstanding Young Artists Award, as well as The Loop HK 30 under 30 Award (2019). Beyond Hong Kong, she was presented with Mina Ninagawa People’s Choice Award by Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei (2015) and Max Palevsky Award (2010).
